the eye

while at the park the other day, i put joss down on the blanket and went to the swings with jayla. there was a hispanic family that was sitting on the picnic tables with their 6 mo old daughter watching us walk past. im pushing jayla on the swing and glance up to see that same fam walking over and unloading their little girl from her stroller on to josslynns blanket. now, remember, this baby is all by herself, k... they just start talkin to joss and have their girl sittin, chillin on the blanket with her. i walked over and started talkin(i was only 5 steps away, just not sittin there with her on the blanket). found out their names and they wanted to know how old she was. of coarse the next statement that comes after her age is"wow, shes so big." this i know. state the obvious, please. the mom checks out joss' legs and then tells her husband to come feel these legs, so solid. so the husband does! if i were to ever walk up to a random family and start checkin out the baby, jimmy would have already walked away! okay, i thought this to have been such a weird situation, so im tellin my partners at work about it. just so happens one of my partners is mexican and she tells me that its probably this thing they call "the eye" or "ojo." its their belief if you look or stare at a baby and dont go over and touch that baby after looking hard at them, then the baby will get a bad vibe or spirit and they dont sleep and are restless at night. she goes on to tell me that we were lucky that these people came by. it happened to her and her son just recently where her son would not sleep and they couldnt figure out why. she ends up calling her mom and her mom tells her to do this eye thing. shes like no, so mom does it for her. what you do is you wave or lightly rub an egg over the baby head and chest while saying a prayer. you then crack that egg into a bowl of water and the egg should have a bubble (the ojo) in it. this is to represent the bad spirit coming out of the baby. this is true, we asked the girls on my unit if they had heard of the eye and all of them knew what it was. pretty crazy, may explain why these strange people felt they had to come over and touch the baby. if my baby wasnt such a cute lil heffa, i dont think those people would have even been staring so hard;) that was something new i learned about another culture...i never knew that??? so if you read this, then you too, have learned something new and different today. watch out for the eye if you have a most adorable little kid that everyone wants to stare at. i told jimmy that i might need him to do "the eye" to me every night before bed cuz im sure people are lookin hard at my fine self that i would go days without sleep;)

wut up chuck

jameer knocked jayla off the couch a couple weeks ago and she just layed on the floor on her back. i didnt see her pop up so i went over to her and it kinda scared me cause she was whimpering a lil but not moving. normally i would just pick her up but i start thinking the worste...what if she had a broken neck or somethin serious. i asked her to get up herself and she did, but slowly. shes okay with that now, but for the next few minutes, maybe half hour, she just layed on the couch trying to go to sleep. k, this aslo, not normal. just before this, my kids were nonstop bouncing off the walls. she also took a late nap so shouldnt be tired. she did start crying after she picked herself up for a lil bit, on and off. all the sudden she screams out, "my head hurts! my neck hurts!" by this time it had been a godd hour or 2, so when she said this i thought, maybe she started to get the cold that everyone else had the week before that hasnt cleared out the house. so, my smart self, i give her tylenol. we sat down to eat some shrimp pasta and she chucked everywhere! within 2 minutes of me giving her tylenol and one bite, it was over! jameer looked at her then at me and told me "jayla just threw up. its all over but not on me." how glad i was that we were in the kitchen and not on my sofa or carpet. stinky forever! ok, put her in bath and nurse calls back...bad idea to give tylenol to a kid that just hit her head. doc says no worries and i can let her sleep. throwing up from stress (and the tylenol). she kept a bowl next to her(just in case) and every now and then i heard her trying to throw up and then say, "mom, i cant throw up." after the bath, she had to get a band aid on her head cuz it hurt and after that she asked for one on her throat cuz that hurt too. if thats all it took, i would never have given her tylenol.

found!

Jameer has been asking me for the past 2-3 months where Josslynns neck was. he'll say, "mom, i cant see her neck, i cant find it. where is her neck?" then he'll start getting mad and really go looking for it. the other day, on the way home from the gym, he blurts out, "mom, i found her neck!" she looked to the side to see jayla and he must've been looking at her at the same time to see it. he was so excited!

dentist

took the little rugrats to the dentist today and jameer has absolutely perfect teeth! yeah!!! jayla... well, thats another story. this girl has an extra incisor that is between her two front incisors on top. it hasnt broken through yet, but it is a baby tooth that could come anytime. doc says it looks like it is slightly behind the other two in the roof of her mouth. totally hereditary..levi has a jammed up mouth and extra teeth everywhere. not gonna lie, i had to get braces cuz mine were overlapping in the bottom with overcrowding and two fangs in the top. jayla also has somewhat of two "buck" teeth that turn slightly out as well. the two top incisors arent only gapped with an extra piece of skin (from daddy) that even with braces wont close it, but has kellies "buckness" as well. of course my son would be the one with a wonderful smile and my daughter has the jacked up grill and will need braces. jayla is truly a little bit of all of us. that aside, we had NO cavities! yeah, thats what im talkin bout! and both kids got to bring home some cool sunglasses and the "goodie bag" with toothpaste and toothbrush and stuff. they LOVE the dentist! i wont tell them the truth about dentists till later. i, personally, HATE the dentist! still dealing with a bad crown right now, so they get no love from me. maybe if i got to wear some sunglasses while getting worked on???

GOD CREATED CHILDREN

okay, i totally ripped this off monettes page, but i had to share this and keep it around if ever i need to read again....

GOD CREATED CHILDREN

Whenever your children are out of control,
You can take comfort from the thought that
even God's omnipotence did not extend
to His own children.

After creating heaven and earth,
God created Adam and Eve.
And the first thing he said was,
‘DON'T!’

‘Don't what?’
Adam replied.

‘Don't eat the forbidden fruit.’
God said.

‘Forbidden fruit?’
‘We have forbidden fruit!’
‘Hey Eve... We have forbidden fruit!’

‘No Way!’

‘Yes way!’

‘Do NOT eat the fruit!’
said God.

‘Why?’

‘Because I am your Father
and I said so!’, God replied,
wondering why He hadn't stopped
creation after making the elephants.

A few minutes later,
God saw His children having
an apple break
and He was not pleased!

‘Didn't I tell you not to eat the fruit?’
God asked.

‘Uh huh,’ Adam replied.

‘Then why did you?’, asked the Father.

‘Eve started it!’, Adam said.
‘Did not!’
‘Did too!’
‘DID NOT!’

Having had it with the two of them,
God's punishment was that Adam and Eve
should have children of their own.
Thus the pattern was set and it has never changed.

If you have persistently and lovingly tried to give children wisdom
and they haven't taken it,
don't be hard on yourself.
If God had trouble raising children,
what makes you think it would be
a piece of cake for you?

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT!
1. You spend the first two years of their life
teaching them to walk and talk. Then you spend
the next sixteen telling them to sit down and shut up.

2. Grandchildren are God's reward
for not killing your own children.

3. Mothers of teens now know why
some animals eat their young.

4. Children seldom misquote you.
In fact, they usually repeat word for word
what you shouldn't have said.

5. The main purpose of holding children's parties
is to remind yourself that there are children
more awful than your own.

6. We childproofed our homes, but they are still getting in.

ADVICE FOR THE DAY:
Be nice to your kids.
They will choose your
nursing home one day.

AND FINALLY:
IF YOU HAVE A LOT OF TENSION
AND YOU GET A HEADACHE,
DO WHAT IT SAYS
ON THE ASPIRIN BOTTLE:

‘TAKE TWO ASPIRIN’
AND ‘KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN!!!!!’

SEE!! i knew i wasnt the only one:)

naked!

you think so many people(including myself) would be overweight if we had to walk around naked??? seriously, if we never knew clothes, so it wasnt indecent or anything, just no clothes. then we would be all out there. ya know, everybody seeing you for just who you are. clothes hide ALOT! thats another reason being pregnant is so fun, cuz you have a cute belly and its okay.

not so much after the baby gets here is that belly so cute anymore. i know its mostly me, but i have NEVER had this much trouble gettin back right. shopping is now only good if im looking for gym clothes, and even then...theres that muffin! you know, the belly fat that gathers above your pants and pooches out, again, not so cute. yet, i will still find myself occasionally hitting up krispie kreme or cold stone or even DQ??? why is that? so, im just gonna stop wearing clothes altogether and we shall see if that causes me to start eating less and making sure the gym is my friend 5 days a week????

early morning

gotta go to work in the morning...sucks! wish i could stay at home all the time. even if i have the chance to be home when my kids act out...jameer wont shut up about the xbox and how he asks to play every 5 seconds and when he does get to play, the tantrums he throws when hes told to get off or jayla whining cause she wants to hold you or her head hurts, or she needs medicine cuz her neck hurts(drama queen) or josslynn decides she wants to eat for the second time in 2 hours... kinda makes me wanna shove them all back up and be a happy preggo, cute, lil mamma again. i would still take those days over watching someone elses kids all day long. i see the juvies at work more than my own, and it never seems long enough or that i did enough with the two days off that i have. waking up at 4:30 kills ya, cuz even tho i get off at 2pm, i am so tired that i wanna nap the rest of the afternoon. no fair to the kids so, most of the time, i dont. but, once the kiddos are all in bed, jimmy wants to start a movie, which by this time, its around 9pm and i get elbowed at every 5-10 minutes cause im falling asleep. the other night i woke up in the middle of watching "the wire" and saw that jimmy had already turned it off and turned his game on. gave up on me already. so then i have him complaining that i cant ever stay up with him. i think, i have to propose a new situation that will solve everthing... ill stay at home! that way i will be able to stay up late with the hubby and nap with the kids during the day, keep up with the laundry and clean up on a daily rather than getting done what i can without being a zombie! i know this will never happen, but one can dream, no?

my girl cry

okay, so i made one of my girls cry today. NOT one of my own, but one at work. how are you 13 years old and do not know how to put your hair up in a pony tail, wrap the tail around and make it a bun??? are you serious?? my partner and i had tried to explain for at least 20 minutes before breakfast (making us late) and then again before class. this girl was so hilarious and did not understand what to do with her brush to make her hair go back. we arent allowed to put hands on the kids so we just had to do it all verbal...hard. i just kept laughing, but i talk loud so i think that me explaining over and over just got to her and she stood there at the busted mirror and started to cry. then i say again, are you serious??? crying cause you cant do your hair? im still not use to this kind of emotion, being that i worked with the 17 yr old boys for 4 years. big change. one of the other girls eventually got up to help explain and even asked if she could put gloves on and just do it for her. nope. if she didnt get it now and got help, then we would have to go through the same thing tomorrow and so forth. she ended up getting it done, but if she would have just listened the first time instead of spacin off, it would have been done right. these kids have a hard time listening and just doing things right the first time...but shoot, dont we all? maybe thats why i get frustrated with these lil girls cause i sometimes forget that i havent always been so perfect;)
